Hi there,

Its pretty easy! At first Bansko doesn't look much, but if you visit the old town there is more going on there and more bars etc,, to find this find the the sports bar (lion bar) by hotel Straxhite, to the right of this is a road if you follow it all the way down you will reach the centre.

I don't want to put too much of a damper on things but I've just come back from Bansko and rumours are that they're shutting the mountain on Friday due to lack of snow and huge amounts of sunshine.

They are only rumours, so I hope you get a good holiday, but take your shorts and a sun hat!

Thanks for the heads up Tim.

From the variety and diversity of the messages it just sounds like you have to wait till you get there to find out what kinda holiday your gonna have.

Fingers crossed

Tim,

What a load of nonsense.

They are not closing the mountain on Friday due to a lack of snow. There is plenty still on the slopes.

re: Orientation in Bansko

Just back from Bansko. They can close the mountain because of lack of snow. BUT NOT NEXT FRIDAY. MAYBE THE LAST FRIDAY OF APRIL.
There is mre then enouh snow in bansko.
Good advice is to ski in the morning and head straight o the top.

re: Orientation in Bansko

Seconded, definately I would advise getting to the gondola for 8.30 when it opens, you avoid the queues, get a bit of time before all the ski schools hit the slopes, and the conditions are better early on.

Warning to beginners though, the top blue run is not a blue, it is a red run and not an easy cruise at all.
