Last year I booked flights to Sofia for this coming February Half term for £160 a head. I used www.opodo.co.uk to find them. They are with Bulgaria Air from Gatwick, at nice sensible times and include ski and boot carriage. I booked them 11 months out, when they were made available (it's something like 330 days) and have watched the cost climb over the months since.

When easyjet flights came available in July I checked hoping I had not missed a bargain, and in fact they came to more than I'd paid with opodo. I suppose that was because it was Feb half term and a peak time. Flights were a bit cheaper with Wizzair, but they are not the most convenient in terms of times and Luton is a b***** to get to!

I rented a large 2bed/2 bath apartment in the Royal Plaza for 560 euros (it's ended up costing about £500), and 4 ski packs are going to be 880euros.

With the exchange rate at close to parity it is not as cheap as I'd hoped and planned for this time last year!

Booking early doesn't always work out. My brother decided to come with us and bought his flight 2 months after us. He paid 20 quid less for the same flight.
