Our own worst enemy?

All,

Have noticed a few threads discussing differential prices in restaurants, people being asked outright for tips etc.
Have to say this has never happened to me, although I have encountered the 'no change' reply on the mtn in Bansko.

I think to a certain extent we (Brits) are partially to blame. We find the food and drink so cheap and cannot really be bothered with small change we often say keep the change, in effect giving vastly inflated tips. I have to admit I've done this myself ...

I have to admit I've done this myself at the end of a long night, maybe I was showing off of not be bothered.

So if we do this, which shows a lack of resepect and a touch of arrogance (hands up here), what do we expect but for the locals to modify their behaviour.

I've learn't my lesson, I haggle if I buying clothes, shades etc and I make sure I leave a decent tip (if deserved) but not excessive. I don't think this mean, it just shows a bit of sensitivity.
