PAMPOROVO UPDATE 30/12/14

Just a quick update from my last day on the slopes.

Skiing conditions again were fantastic probably the second best I have had in Bulgaria.
Same runs as yesterday open the ones which are closed I expect will be open by the end of the week as they have 10ft high piles of machine made snow on them now and probably 50cm+ of natural snow. Resort centre at night is absolutely dead which is a real shame, no atmosphere in resort at all, the piste's are relatively busy but no more than 5 ...

Resort centre at night is absolutely dead which is a real shame, no atmosphere in resort at all, the piste's are relatively busy but no more than 5 minutes waiting time for the lifts. Temperature today in Pamporovo was -14 in morning and -10 in the afternoon so it was bloody cold.

in my opinion after visiting borovets 12 times bansko 5 and pamporovo 4 it is the best resort in BG for skiing but the worst resort for nightlife.

That's both good and bad news all in one go Charles. Great to hear about the snow conditions and I'm sure
lots of people will appreciate your post once they've read it.

Shame about the nightlife, especially as I was told yesterday that it was much better of late.
I have such fond memories on BJ's in the Perelik being so packed you could hardly get in the door.

Ah well, lets hope it picks up over the New Year.

re:PAMPOROVO UPDATE 30/12/14

Was out for Xmas 12 and feb 13 Was quiet both times not sure if the Perelik being all inclusive hads had any impact but Markony and White dog were quiet for après ski drinkies even night time was quiet. The journey time of four hours ( I do like me macdonalds stop with a beer though ) must put people off going when they can go bansko or borovets in two. The Irish contingent was lacking also at one time it was a popular place for them as well.

re:PAMPOROVO UPDATE 30/12/14

I do think that Pamporovo has become more of a family orientated place to ski and that will have a direct affect on the nightlife as you just can't party to the same extent when you have small children. And I agree, losing the irish contingent has been a great loss for the nightlife (however it does mean I get a better nights sleep)Sleepy

I have heard that the open air centre beside Pampi Apres Ski (where the ice skating rink used to be) is going to be an open air market from 4pm daily ...

I have heard that the open air centre beside Pampi Apres Ski (where the ice skating rink used to be) is going to be an open air market from 4pm daily selling local goods and food etc which will be an interesting addition. Anything that attracts folk out and above town centre after skiing is good.
