PAMPS SNOW?

Having noticed the ski conditions in Bansko and Borovets, then looking at the webcam in Pamps, can someone tell me whether this is the norm for Pamps. I know its about 4/500m lower than the other 2, but c'mon, there's only been about 4/5 weeks of skiability there this year and last year was just as bad. Do you lot think this is the start of things to come or has it been another freak year for Pamps?

Stevie

You could ski / board there from the early in Dec - I know plenty that were on the slopes from about the 5th of Dec -until the end of Feb. Guess this year the snows cames early. normally you wouldnt expect to be able to go out until the Christmas / New year week (4 weeks later than this year)

and you could still ski 90% of runs the first week in March when I was there - that's more than 4/5 weeks Stevie Cool

re: PAMPS SNOW?

the other two had snow cannons!
also Pamps is much further south in a lower mountain range, it seemed to miss a lot of the snow that came from the north west, and instead gets the warm air coming up from the south.

re: PAMPS SNOW?

Ok Ok Ok! Still nothing like the conditions in Boro or Bansko though. I just did not think there would be THAT MUCH of difference just because of 400m, but obviously there is. Sad

re: PAMPS SNOW?

The Perelik Tourist Centre in the Rhodope Mountains which is currently being developed will have almost 6 months guaranteed snow/skiing a year and it is only a short drive from Pamporovo. This is not just something I have read it is from the mouth of a dedicated skier who,as a born-and-bred Smolyan person, can't wait for it to be completed. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

re: PAMPS SNOW?

Just back from boro and people had been moved from pamps as there was no snow at all. FWIW boro did not use the snow cannons as the season was ending and they had been brought down. Not much snow at the bottom but WOW uptop 5 days solid skiing and the snow will be there till the end of april for sure. Only the bottom parts of Musallah path and Yestrebets were shut. As for the future , who knows .
