It's a good question DW and one I'm more than happy to answer.

I've been to Bulgaria over 20 times now both summer and winter. I tend to use either Balkan or Crystal depending on several things.

Costs
Availability

I 've had both good and bad experiences with both and would say they are much of a muchness really. I'm not one to complain too much, and if anything does go wrong I tend to just forget about it. I once booked into The Alba in Sunny Beach with Balkan, only to be told on arrival that it was full and I had to stay at the Kuban, which although OK is not as good as the Alba. I had booked 10 months in advance, yet when I spoke to people who were staying at the Alba, they had only booked a few weeks before. That sort of thing happens and it's annoying, but there's no point making a song and dance about it.

It's like booking a meal in a resturant. If you have a good meal there, you tell everyone it's great, if however you did not enjoy your meal you tell everyone to avoid it. It does not mean every meal they serve is bad.

I don't book through BulgariaSki as I find them a little lax in confirming details, as you have probably read from posters this season.

So, to conclude, Crystal or Balkan.... not much to seperate them.

If I can put my two penneth in...

I've booked Thompson, Crystal and Inghams and always found Inghams to be the best - in fact, last year when I had to cancel at short notice, no problems - had to claim on the insurance, but then was able to rebook without any hassle for a month later.

The reps were very friendly too. Same reps two years running with Inghams.

I had major problems with flight times with Thompson / Crystal - landing at Gatwick at about 1.30am isn't my idea of fun... although this year, we were late with Inghams, but that was due to the snow in Lyon where the plane had been in the morning
