re: Pamporovo hotel

The article says:"Bulgaria isn't famous for its great cuisine..."
Well,Bulgaria was not famous ONLY because they had 45years of IMPOSED by force communism against the wish of Bulgarian people. And you can't expect everything to be perfect. What Switzerland has built for 150years PEACE,Bulgaria has to built for 15????
All the best to you,I understand your logical worries, but when you expect the worst, it's usually not bad at all.The article reviews the hotel from 2002.Now it's 2005. Booze

re: Pamporova hotel

Ignore it Daz, the hotel has had lot of bad press recently. I think the problems mainly occur during the busy weeks when the place is overun with kids. This is due to bad management of the hotel.

I stayed there last week, it was a fantastic hotel and I had a great time. Don't worry about all the bad hype. I went from Manchester with Balkan and although the planes are very old and dodgy looking everything ran smoothly and we got there and back in one peice.

Some people just seem to have a snobby issue with bulgaria and particularly this hotel and resort. Don't know what the problem is. We were there whilst all the gangster stuff happened and we barely noticed. Just more posh cars about and police etc.

Don't worry, have fun.

re: Pamporova hotel

I can't speak for half term, but I've been there when it was full, and there were no queues and bags of hot water.
It was fairly new in 2002, and it was undergoing some additional building, so maybe that affected the service.

I found it great when I stayed there the past two years, and very good value compared to hotels anywhere else in the world. By Bulgarian standards it was unheard of and out of this world when it first opened. I must say, if I stayed in this country or just about ...

I found it great when I stayed there the past two years, and very good value compared to hotels anywhere else in the world. By Bulgarian standards it was unheard of and out of this world when it first opened. I must say, if I stayed in this country or just about any other I couldn't afford to stay in a hotel as good as this, unless work was paying.

It's odd how people's expectations work, if they stay in this country or other western countries they stay in a pretty cheap B&B with nothing, often not even a decent bar, yet when they go to Bulgaria and expect absolute luxury for what is basically a pittance, and when they get only ordinary luxury they are disappointed.....go figure.
