Well, in spite of the iffy snow, we had a great week (13-19th) in Pamporovo.
If you were irritated by the fat guy lumbering slowly down on skis, wearing a beard and a silly green and yellow belled hat, sorry, but I was having a ball. And my partner's 10-year-old grandson, who whizzed down the "baby wall" red run at 100kph also had a ball.
Neither of us had ever been on snow before (a few dry slope lessons entitled us to skip the beginners groups), so I was a bit gobsmackedd to be ...

If you were irritated by the fat guy lumbering slowly down on skis, wearing a beard and a silly green and yellow belled hat, sorry, but I was having a ball. And my partner's 10-year-old grandson, who whizzed down the "baby wall" red run at 100kph also had a ball.
Neither of us had ever been on snow before (a few dry slope lessons entitled us to skip the beginners groups), so I was a bit gobsmackedd to be doing the triple chair to the summit at 09.45 on day one, a blue run on day 2 and the Baby Wall from day 3 onwards. I've also got very dicey hips, so was more than relieved to end the week vertical, especially as were able to ski each day.
The snow was just about ok, though it inevitably got slushy in the pm (and occasionally it was a bit scarily icy first thing, rattling down to the lift from the Ski Depot!). My partner, who's a good skier said she had lots of fun on the blacks, though towards the end of the week the tops of some of the runs were very threadbare. And the long green back down to the Ski Depot was occasionally horrible, especially the slushy 200 metres poling along the flat towards the bottom.
We stayed at the Bor, dunno why you guys are so sniffy - it's a basic two-star, basic old fashioned Eastern Bloc food, with basic prices (and free child places). And it has the advantage that it's the start point for a couple of regular buses in the am so you can always get a seat. The 9am bus was like clockwork, always left betrween 9.00 and 9.02.
{A wrinkly speaks} God, the White Hart is LOUD. And the Murgavets barbecue is still excellent value. The Chevermeto "Folk Feast" night out was dreadful - undrinkable wine, variable meat, enspeakable cold, stodgy, thick pancakes with a dab of red jam for pud. And a bit of kitsch-y traditional dancing. Still, what do you expect?
All in all, an excellent week. Sorry to hear about the delay to the LGW flight - you missed the best snow of the week, and I suspect the couple of hours extra skiing on the Saturday am didn't make up for that:-)
May even go back there next year:-)))

HiI had a similar experience in 2002, with very dodgey snow/slush/ice, but still had a ball. I even had a the same 'folk feast experience', the meat was all skin , fat and bone, but we did swap the wine for more satifying Karmanitza, (2 pints per bottle of wine). Perhaps next try going in feb.
