Bulgaria Ski discussion board

Firstly I would like to say what an excellent web site this is. Since booking up in November I look at it a few times a week and I feel that I am now a seasoned traveller to Pamps.

The site is well policed by a few main characters, not to mention Pamparovo Pete. I have learnt more from him than my old geography teacher - Pete you do an excellent job.

Even though I am now a regular to this site I still have a few questions:-

(1) Taking money into Bulgaria - my local travel agent said that I can take up to 5,000 Levs (obviously not necessary) - is this true?
(2) I am going away with my 8 year old son (boys on tour) - will he be OK going to the White Hart in the evening?
(3) Will he be able to be in the same ski lessons as myself. He has had about 12 hours lessons on a dry ski slope and has no fear and is starting to parallel. I went in my teens (now 30+). We are therefore about the same level. We are travelling with Balkan Holidays.
(4) Apart from the essential soft toilet roll is there anything else anyone can suggest to take that is a little out of the norm?
(5) Does everyone take Cream Eggs to the guys in the English owned Board shop. Are they putting on weight as a result?
(6) Are the buses getting better from the Pamporovo Hotel - there have been many reports that once they get to the hotel they are packed. Shall I not bother and get a taxi?
(7) What is the restaurant called that has the huge starter (Mountain something??) - the restaurant you need to book in advance?

Hi Buddy, thanks for the friendly comments, I will do my best to answer all your questions.

1. Taking Lev to Bulgaria has relaxed over the last few years and you can take a reasonable amount, but there is no need to take that much. UK Sterling is widely accepted to change into Lev whilst you are there, as long as the notes are not torn or written on.

2. Your son will be welcome in all Pamporovo Bars including the White Hart.

3. If you are of the same ability there will be no problem in being in the same class. You will be asked to perform your best turns on the nursery slopes then graded in to classes of equal standards. If you should be split up just tell the instructor you wish to ski together and it will be sorted.

4. Marmite? Your own favourite coffee for breakfast maybe (we do).

5. They have loads of Cream Eggs now, the latest fantasy is Jelly Tots.

6. We never used the bus once during our 2 week stay. Taxi from the Pamporovo will cost about 8 lev. Devided by four it's less than a quid each. Otherwise yes the buses are still quite packed by the time they get to you.

7. I think the resturant you are talking about is called Chanob, and yes it is directly opposite another resturant called The White House. .
