we are a group of 11 visiting pamporovo on our first skiing holiday on the 9th Jan 2010. Just reading alot of worrying weather reports.... any updates?
Also we are a variety of age ranging from 9 years old to mid 20's, anyone got any after ski ideas?
We are abit worried about the food, any recommendations and good places to eat and drink?
Depends on where you are staying. Firstly regarding the food most hotels have plenty on offer. Breakfast offers a range of fruit, yoghurt, cereal, ham cheeses and cooked food such as bacon eggs and continental sausages. Evening meals also offer a wide variety meat stews, chicken on the bone chips etc. On the mountain pizza chips for the less adventurous or great Bulgaria food like Kavarma and satch or local soups to warm you up. Bank machines at the Murgavets hotel never had any problem using it.
Some snow is forecast and although not all runs are open, skiing is possible on the upper slopes. Snow cannon are working through the night when temperatures drop low enough.
Others will undoubtedly provide further info. What hotel are you staying in?
thanks for your reply
the hotel which we are staying at is hotel pamporvo, do u no of anyone who has stayed here, what did they think of it ?
how is the nightlife this time of year also?
and is there facilities for toboggining ?
ps.. is there any essentials that you would recommend bringing apart from the obvious?
thanks again
Hotel Pamporovo is relatively new with its own 10 pin bowling alley. It is slightly removed from the main resort and prices for drinks there are slightly more than in other places. I have been there on numerous occasions but have not stayed there so others need to comment on the hotel.

As to anything to bring ... instant coffee that you like as Bulgaria coffee can be very strong. There are facilities for tobogganing but a cheap 'Bum Board' bought in the resort can give hours of fun.
We took some packs of bacon with us - but depends if you have an apartment with cooking facilities.
Best place to sledge is down at Ski centre 2 near the Markony Hotel - you can hire sledges down there too or buy bum boards.
Most of the large hotels have ATM machines in - we have never had a problem getting money out while there.
There is an outdoor ice rink outside the Murgavets which is fun for all ages - and if the snow is good then an evening doing the ringo's is definately recommended.

Hi Irish Party People, there is a good range of food that you can buy in pamporovo, and some very nice restaurants, there is sledge hire in pamporovo as well and you can take them on the lifts, my daughter broke both legs three years ago and last year she used the sledges. Hire charge 5.00 per day with steering and also brakes. Both my daughters used them the next day as they had such fun on them. from the top of pamporovo there is a wonderful green run you can take to the mid station for ...
