Pamporovo experience

Hi all...

Just back from Pamporovo... Here are my comments:

Stayed in Pamporovo Hotel and some of our friends stayed in Murgavetz and Evridika...

First of all the most important point is FOOD: both three groups agreed that there is very very basic food in hotels, and it is very difficult for you to find something to eat if you are vegeterian or don't like pork.

But It is very cheap outside and you can find different kinds of meal around. To have an idea: We all drank large beer, and ate one plate of main course and we gave approximately 12 EUROs, this was in hotel, it is much more cheaper in town... Breakfasts... One sentence: you have to like EGGS....
Bulgarian People: They are very nice and kind... We had no problems with communication... They do want to help you all the time...
Skiing-Boarding in PAMPs: To be honest, I can say that this resort is very very suitable if you prefer SKIING... I passed every single pist of the resort and I can say that there are some conditions that snowboarder won't like... There are some plain areas on the long and central pists and you need to walk in order to go to the pist at the end of the lifts... This is no problem for the skiers but very big problem for the snowboarders. Another point to be said is: there are many many beginners and and you cannot find a place to ski sometimes especially in easy pists.
The forecasts were saying that there would not be any snow last week... But it snowed every day we were there... So don't be dissapointed if there is no snow in the forecasts... Go there and you will find snow in any case... And also web cam is the lowest point for skiing and shows mainly the parking area... for this reason, look at it but know that it cannot be the snow indicator for PAMPS...
All the pists were open and I can say that there were some ice and stones... But when we consider the total... We may say very good snow conditions...

Gear Rental We rented snowboard packages for 6 days from Snow Shack... I can say that there are very kind guys working there... They are very very helpful and you can ask anything to them... They will help... But one important point: the gears and boards are a little bit old. And they want what they serve... If you don't need any snowboard assistence you may find another place around that rents newer gear for cheaper prices... Lessons: Very cheap and good... 30 Levs/person for 2 hours(for a group of 5 persons)

Some advise: Try KUMALISA... It is a nice drink prepared with Mastika, Baileys and Hot Chocolate... You will like it... Keep away from Taxis... They are cheap but can be cheaper... If you use them make them switch on the counter... You will pay less... Go out and eat in some of the restaurants around... You will love it...

to summarize:

It is a very nice place to have a holiday... I would like to go there again but after trying Borovetz and Bansko... Cool

Go there and enjoy your time...

re: Pamporovo experience

What about the pistes - somebody who has just come back from Pamporovo said they do very little with the machines to keep them in good condition.

re: Pamporovo experience

Every evening machines go over the pistes... Actually we did not have any problems because of not machining...

Pistes are in good condition altough there are some icy and stoned parts...

I think it can be a problem if they go over the pistes so much... The weather was so cold and there was no melting on the ground... Machining could cause some ice....

re: Pamporovo experience

Last week the bottom of the green run to the mid station got a bit icy but they used a snow cannon for the last few days which helped.
