Never had a problem with the Samokov, similar to the Rila, but nearer the Gondola. Personal prefferances, busy or quiet, plenty to do, or relaxed etc theres plenty of choice!

depends . . .if you like bigger hotels they say the rila is good . . close to lifts etc but we always stay in smaller ones cos more friendly and you get to meet loads of people.. dont think the food is much cop in any of them but its so cheap to eat out and the eating places are great, , often have some live bands on and stuff and drinks are soooo cheap

Thanks for all the info. Balkan do fly from Edinburgh/Glasgow so will take a look. My mate had initially suggested Pamps at the Hotel Belmont half board.

pamps is cr*p borovets is a must. you must of made you're mind up before coming onto this site because everyone said borovets.

borovets borovets borovets . . .now stop being silly and get it booked . .me and hubby and 2 sons been going for years . . .however I;ve only just learnt how to ski 2 weeks ago. . .am a bit of a wimp girl. . .but now am totally hooked. . am still rubish and fall off chair lifts, button pulls but cant wait to go back

Nope, now going to convince my mate to go to Borovets!!
£629 H/B in Samokov from Edinburgh, includes hire, lift pass and snowboard tuition. £640 for Rila in hotel rather than studio.
