The check-in at Manchester airport was a nightmare. 2 flights were checking in at the same time, ours (Plovdiv) and the Sofia flight. For most of the time there were only 2 check-in desks open. Get there early !!
The flight was fine. No entertainment, the food was a cold salad, bread roll and Mars bar, but you did get 2 rounds of free coke/sprite or fruit juice, plus tea or coffee. The meals were the same on both outbound and return flights.
Plovdiv ...
A few notes about our week in Pamps –

Plovdiv airport was fine. You have to wait a bit to get through passport control, and for most people, their bags were on the ONE carousel before they got through.
The transfer took about 1hr 40 mins. Don’t worry if there’s no snow to be seen at Plovdiv – as you wind up through the mountains, the white stuff start to appear !!
Hotel Pamporovo was good. Rooms comfortable but not over-warm. Breakfast was buffet – eggs, thick fatty bacon, sausages, cakes, bread, toast, cereals, ham, cheeses, salads, tea, coffee etc.
Evening meal was buffet again, with 3 main dishes, plus an assortment of vegetables, plus salads, soup, lots of different cakes etc. for dessert.
Money exchange in the hotel – 2.5 lev to the pound, fixed for the season.
Buses leave for the ski runs every 15 mins or so. Later ones (after 9.15am) might be full, so a tip is to get a bus at about 8.45am. It also means you avoid the hoards of people getting their ski gear on etc. On the first morning, we took a taxi to the ski runs (8 lev), so we got our ski boots, skis etc. allocated before most other people got there. Taxis are everywhere. Ask driver for the fare before you get in. It’s about 4 lev to the hotel Perelik/White Hart from the hotel Pamps.
Loads of buses to take you back to your hotel at the end of the day. Hotel Pamps is the last drop-off. A couple of times, the driver tried to turf everyone off at the Perelik and told them to walk to the hotel Pamps. If you make a fuss, they’ll continue (as they should do !!)
Snow and skiing was excellent. Ski school allocated at about 10am first morning, by the head instructor asking about your ability (or lack of it!)
Loads of mountain restaurants. About 10 lev for a pizza, and 6 lev for a ham & cheese toastie.
Ski presentation evening (Friday) claims to start at 8.30pm, but didn’t start until about 9.15pm – might be an issue if you (like us) have to get up at 3am next morning for your transfer back to Plovdiv.
strange about the hotel not being warm enough. we had the rad turned off and slept with the balcony door open all night. friend of mine got back from there last week and said it was roasting in her room also.
Also just got back, had a great time. Good snow all week and pistes well prepared by night. First day ski issue takes a long time. Remember there is 1 queue for 3 ski rooms!
We all had good ski tuition but it is an all day experience with the instructors looking after you from 9:30 to 3:00. You do have lunch break where ever you are at the time.
Green runs were packed last week - half term week. Black runs relatively free with good snow conditions.

We were not pleased with the Ski kindergarden. Our little one was not happy. They take them skiing or sledging for 1 hour moning and afternoon. BUT the rest of the time there was very little interaction with the kids apart from stopping them leave the room. They are left to their own devices to entertain themselves with limited toys.
we had a family room on our first night, was not warm to say the least. got a different room on the second night. did you complain about the room and ask to be moved ?
