Pamporovo

Hi all,

Planning to be back in Pamporovo Feb 3rd for the third year running. Hopefully the snow will be hip deep by then! Has anyone any idea of the long range forecast for end of Jan / Feb??? Another quick question, has Plovdiv airport had any improvements made to it since last year, my last memory of Bulgaria last year was waiting hours in a cramped airport with very little to do or eat.

re: Pamporovo

When we arrived in Plovdiv in Feb there were 6 flights (some diverted, some delayed) came in together. Luggage from all 5 on one belt at same time - major chaos! Took us nearly three hours to get our bags! However, NO frayed tempers - everyone really friendly and having a laugh. On return journey, we boarded plane only an hour late, but then had to wait for delayed coach from Bansko - another two hours!! Going back in Feb '07 - can't wait!!!!

Bless - we love it - we have been to Bulgaria several times and have always travelled with Balkan (another unique experience)- first time was in 1991 - Bourgas airport (a kind of cross between a shed and a bargain-basement conservatory). The airports are part of the holiday experience - there is nowhere else like them!

Oh yes - we had two navy blue holdalls last year - so did around 600 other passengers! It ended up with a big group of athletic types balancing on the moving belt and chucking bits of luggage out on request! Who said Plovdiv didn't have its own entertainment ...?

re: Pamporovo

Cheers guys, we'll just have to brave the airport and make our own entertainment. Its really a shame that the first and last point of contact with the country is so poor while everything else is great. It'd be nice to see some of the money being spent in the country reinvested in the infrastructure and allow further expansion of the tourist industry in the area.
