I know it's a long time away, but returned from bansko, and already thinking about a holiday next year... deciding I want to learn to snowboard, and was looking into pamporovo to trya different resort again (as been to boro as well). Just wandering what the resort was like for learning to snowboard, and how getting to the slopes every day work in terms of shuttle bus etc.
well also planning to ski when not in boarding lessons (as they're usually 3 days?) so any ideas what the skiing and off piste is like compared to the other 2 resorts? cheers
The beauty of Pamporovo is that it is a resort for all levels of skiers and boarders alike. From the sumit you can decend on greens, blues, reds, or blacks, you just make the choice. There is limited off piste to be had, however with the snow as it is at the moment it's not too difficult to find deep snow almost anywhere on the mountain. You also have the resort of Chepelare just 10 minutes drive away which boasts the longest runs in Bulgaria and some good off piste to be had too.
If you ...

If you want to learn to snowboard I have a good friend in the resort called Moey who is a British instructor and will get you on a 1 x 1 lesson to get you started. If you need his details let me know.
I have skied all 3 resorts and I still prefer Pamporovo for it's friendliness and the ease of lifts and mountain management. This year will be year 20 for us - and we look forward to it more every year.
thanks for the info... definately considering pamps next year, just the resort being away from the runs is putting me off, although that was the case at Bansko and it was fine, and glad we went.
Not really an issue Dean regarding the resort layout. It's just a 10 minute transfer on a free ski bus that picks up outside of most hotels and drops you right at the slopes.
Ski storage is at the slopes so no need to take boots or skis back each day.
Having skied USA, France, Italy, Andorra and Austria I can honestly say that the Pamporovo ski depots are the most organised we have ever experienced. They also have free overnight boot warming pods.
