Just a few questions: Going to Pamporovo (and Bulgaria) for the first time in January.
What's the situation with taking money, or getting it changed? Heard horror stories ranging from no credit cards accepted so must take crisp, new bank of england notes and not being allowed to take levs. Or being able to take levs and use credit cards to get levs while in resort!?! How long from the Prespa to the slopes?
Ski storage... any hints? Used to locking ski boxes in the dolomites!
Any other tips, warnings advice for a novice to bulgaria?
Went to Pamps Feb 05 and going back in 21 day time.
I recommend takeing between £100 and £150 worth of levs per person and some sterling. The sterling needs to be clean notes without tears rips or writing on it. Don't know about ski storeage so hopefully someone else will answer this question.
The Prespa is in the centre of the resort and is about 3km from the slopes so it's either the ski bus or taxi as it's generally too far to walk ( and to dangerous as there are no footpaths only icy, snowy roads ).
Best advice for a novice to Bulgaria is to go with an open mind, it's not France, Italy or Austria so don't try to compare it with them. What it is though is a very good inexpensive country with people who are pleased to see you.
Pamporovo Pete says it best - The Bulgarians are all theives - they will steal your heart and leave you with a smile.
