Pamps - just back

Just back from a fab week in Pamps. This wa our 3rd trip and the best yet!
It was snowing when we arrived and continued on and off for the next 3 days, giving us absolutely perfect ski conditions for the whole week. We travelled with Thomson, and found them to be very well good - particularly on our first morning. Their boot room was very well organised and bindings were properly fitted and checked.

It was snowing when we arrived and continued on and off for the next 3 days, giving us absolutely perfect ski conditions for the whole week. We travelled with Thomson, and found them to be very well good - particularly on our first morning. Their boot room was very well organised and bindings were properly fitted and checked.
Prices on the mountain are a bit higher than last year - but not drastically so. We were paying around 20 lev for lunch for 2. The cheapest was the new Bulgarian Dream self service cafe by the bottom main chair lift, although it was a bit characterless. We had huge bowls of soup, garlic bread, chips and hot drinks for just 17 lev. Hot chocolate is generally 6 lev - and the best we had was at the Bulgarian Pub, just before mid station. In resort, prices were still much cheaper then home. We had a lovely two course meal at the Old House on Valentines Eve for 43 lev, including drinks.
We stayed at the Snezhanka. Rooms were clean (although pretty small) and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food wasn't gourmet, but it was good and plentiful. I don't eat meat and there was always plenty of choice. We're going to book this hotel again - it was also the first stop for the ski buses and so you just walked straight out and got on one right outside the door. No waiting at all.
Because we weren't due to be picked up for our return flight till 6.30pm, we decided to have an extra day's ski. Our instructor negotiated us a deal for ski and pole hire from the shop just down on the left from the main ski depot. We'd been quoted 29 lev each, but managed to get them for 15 lev each day. A day lift pass cost 49 lev per adult, so the whole thing worked out at 64 lev each. It was sooo worth it! The slopes were not at all busy - no lift queues at all. It had snowed all Friday night and carried on just about all day Saturday. There was loads of lovely powder snow and we had the best day's skiing of the week.
My only gripe was the delay on the way back - four hours! The rep knew there was a problem, so the coach picked us up two hours later than scheduled, but we were still stuck in Plovdiv from 10pm till 2.30am. Mind you - we were better off than those waiting for the Dublin flight - they'd been there since mid afternoon and there was still no sign of their flight when we left!
