Just realised I didn't finish my report! Here's a quick run down of my night time doings, as promised.
Sunday night ... for those of you who saw me and maybe even tried to talk to me, I'm sorry! I was a zombie. That delay followed by a maybe ill advised afternoon on a board, followed by a few glasses of free Balkan welcome meeting wine, knocked the life out of me. I wandered from my hotel, found the White Hart, had a 1 lev pint (as knackered as I was, it was rude not to), then ...

Sunday night ... for those of you who saw me and maybe even tried to talk to me, I'm sorry! I was a zombie. That delay followed by a maybe ill advised afternoon on a board, followed by a few glasses of free Balkan welcome meeting wine, knocked the life out of me. I wandered from my hotel, found the White Hart, had a 1 lev pint (as knackered as I was, it was rude not to), then had a half hearted explore through the shopping centre and hotel lobby's. I ended up at BJ's where I had a small bottle of beer to fortify me for the walk back. Of course it was happy hour, so got two bottles of beer. This finished me so I headed back to the Rohzen, stopping only for another 1 lev pint for the hill. I popped my head round the door of NightFlight on the way up to my room (It's part of the Hotel Rohzen) but didn't stop. By entering I had doubled the amount of people in there!
Monday night ... Balkan/Inghams pub crawl. Started with convivial drinks and conversation in the lobby of the hotel Pamporovo where I was teamed up with the five other early birds ... Kevin, Tony, young Ian, forgot and don't remember. As thirty were expected we got, well, more than one free shot each.
Onwards to BJ's (why have the pubs so far apart!) where we found the other 25 crawlers ... and then some. More free shots and Achy Breaky Heart on the Karaoke. And beer.
Dak's bar next for fore me shots and beer. I think I freaked out a young lady a bit by doing a trick where the card she chose ended up in her ski jacket that she'd been sitting on all night. Or she might just have been drunk. Had to do a forfeit as I'd broken some drinking rule that I had forgotten about and ended up kissing ten girls in ten seconds. They haven't called.
White Hart next I think (might have been unknown mystery pub between Daks and White Hart but then again we might have just stopped in one of the hotel lobby's) Flee Shlots in White Hart and beer. And beer.
As it was the reps birthday she headed up to NightFlight. As we were drunk and on a pub crawl we followed her, not knowing what else to do. She got annoyed as she was actually just going to the toilet.
Ended up in NightFlight anyway. Apparently vodka, maybe beer, woke up with my jeans still on.
Tuesday night ... Yabba Dabba Doo Bowling. Was late and was assigned a team on arrival. They were Tony (from the pub crawl the night before) Emma, Sheena and Reeny (sp?). It's basically a standard game of bowling but you can't bowl in the usual way. Each round has a different twist... ie bowl with your feet, between your legs etc etc. It was just what I needed, a quietish night and a great laugh ... and through some bizarre twist, my team ended up winning!
Went out to celebrate and beer.
Wednesday night ... Pop Quiz. This would have been good if it had been busier but, as with all the organised activities, you could really tell that the season was winding down. There were only really two teams ... one large table and one small one with Tony and myself. The big team split into two, eventually coming first and third. Our wee table filled the gap with a close second.
It was a decent enough pop quiz, seven rounds of five questions each with a fun round that would have been better with more people. Never mind, because of the small turn out I was a shoe-in to win the Karaoke. Achy Breaky Heart and beer.
Thursday Night ... I NEED A DRINK. The day of the backpack-off-the-lift-adventure. After a reasonable carbonara and a wonderful tiramisu in the Cosmos (made much better when I was joined by carl and partner), I high tailed it to the nearest pub to find people I could bore with my tale of woe in return for drink. Found them and beer. Turned out to be the Karaoke in the White Hart. Was dragged up (thanks Kev) for Achy Breaky Hart again. And Beer. Maybe NightFlight.
Friday Night ... Snowboard school certificate presentation. Free wine, more free wine, up on stage for certificates (thanks to all the whistles my kilt got!) more free wine, won a pair of sunspecs in the raffle, got more whistles (a few worrying ones from men ... they haven't called), more free wine, met Daniel for the first time (lovely bloke, especially considering he's a skier!
), then off to the White Hart for the last time.
All week I had been boarding with one lot of people and out playing at night with another lot, many of who came and went over the course of the week. Friday night was the first time where everyone I had enjoyed the week with turned up in the one place. Fantastic. I turned up a week ago on my own, and ended up spending the night wandering round the White Hart chatting to all the friends I had made. A perfect way to end a very enjoyable week. And beer.
All in all, Pamporovo has a compact and yet jumping night life. It was very evident at times that the season was ending, but it was still busy enough to have a great laugh... especially on the pub crawl. I dread to think how the three main bars cope during the high season, I bet they can get VERY busy. This would have been an advantage on the organised activities (the bowling and the pop quiz) but would have been a bugger when you wanted to get served in a hurry!
I'll certainly go back to Pamps, but probably not till 2006 ... I've got my sights set on Borovets for next season. So keep 'em peeled, unfeasibly long Borovets report coming to BulgariaSki.Com, this time next year!

How about Borovets on 5th Feb - that's when Elaine (the nutter) and I are going. We are staying at the Iglika - nice and convenient and NO SKI BUSES!!!!!I've been to Borovets before and personally, preferred it to Pamps, but can also see why people like Pamps too.

Very tempted. I worked as a travel agent in the early 90's, so I entered my old-enough-to-go-on-holiday-without-the-parents phase in the hayday of dirt cheap last minute deals. Of my last six holidays, only two have been packages, but both were booked within a month of departure ... there's some mental block I have that always thinks I'll get it cheaper if I wait.
But ... this might be the time to change. If I book it now I can dribble money towards it all year and not spend everything in ...

Travelling with Inghams - booked it on line - got £100 discount for early booking and then a further £40 for booking on line. Total cost for two including full learn to ski packs £725.
We chose the superior room as it's got a bath and now the Iglika has a lift, no need to drag the luggage up the wooden staircase!!!
Having studied north of the border, I picked up some of those "looking after money" traits. Spent a year in Aberdeen and a year in Edinburgh - loved every minute of it ...
