We're staing in the pamporovo Hotel - anyone stayed there before? Wht's it like??
We were there last week and stayed in the Pamporovo Hotel. Snow not good at the minute they need a really good dump, runs were ok in the morning but got really slushy in the afternoon esp the green one (i went down it head first one day when i hit the slush). Hotel good, rooms always clean, towels and linen changed every day. Food OK, not always to my taste but i'm a fussy eater. They have a very good spa area, although the pool can be a bit cold! Theres a bowling alley and an Irish bar as well as the reception bar. We didn't spend much time out on a night as we had children with us. We did go to the White Hart had food there twice and it was good value for money and they serve Guiness which pleased my husband. The karaoke bar, which does happy hour and bogof (can't remember what it was called) food in here seemed a bit odd, everything came out in flames including the soup!!!!!
Hi Saz
I was there last week and had a fab time despite poor snow. If you like eating out try the illia restraunt just up from the hotel pamporovo and sits on the corner. Michael the waiter is a scream and they serve up delicious bulgarian dishes. Alternatively the Danmar opposite illia is also excellent, we had steaks cooked on an open fire and they melted in your mouth. Meal for 2 with salad bottle of wine, dessert and Irish coffee cost about £20. I found the White hart and bigger ...
I found the White hart and bigger restraunts just ok food produced in bigger volumes for twice the price and not anywhere near as good. Bottle of wine in the smaller establishments 14 lev same bottle in the popular restraunts 24lev. If you get there and see a small restraunt with no one in it dont let it put you off, it will probably be the best food with the friendliest people you could meet. If you like crowded places with mass produced food then go to the white hart and such like.
I would like to 'Big Up' The ILLiia Great place Michael Makes you feel really speacial and Big Leo the 30st+ Russian Owner is great too. Am back at Easter and looking forward to revisiting. For sure these people will not rip you off. Get down there and boycott some of the other places. These are real people and what the place is all about!
im going on the 8th-15th too and am a bit worried about the lack of snow, anyone know if there is any forcast over the next week? i hope so i've never been before and don't want to be dissapointed!
