Just returned from Pamps...so here is my take on things.
Snow conditions were pretty good on the whole, the dump on the 23rd was pretty substantial, and the heavy rain that turned into heavy snow early last week added over another foot.
By the end of the week most runs were open & pisted, except the top of the wall and one of the black runs. From top to mid the conditions are excellent, mid to bottom fair/good.
The new runs are excellent, nice and wide and long, but the final third ...

The new runs are excellent, nice and wide and long, but the final third is not really skiable, another 2 feet of snow is required cos at present you have to walk or go off piste and jump the streams. The runs are quite bumpy on the right hand side, but a lot of fun. They should have built a lift from half way to the top.
Conditions at the bottom of the mountain are quite icy due to the rainfall, and the bottom of the long red has some very thin patches where the earth is starting to come through.
Average price on the mountain is 5lv a pint, but there is a bar serving everything at 3lv (at the bottom of the red/blue runs).
I ate at boheme most days, where a large bowl of goulash soup is 6lv.
I paid 5lv for a ski wax as mine were in a hell of a state, and did not like the fresh sticky snow, a small price to pay for better skiing.
Skied with Julian from the ski school, who is on the Bulgarian demo team, so a hard week of top to bottom skiing ensued, including some very funny formation skiing.
Hotel Snezjanka.
A clean hotel, with friendly staff. Rooms are small with paper thin wall and bathrooms the size of cupboards. There was two parties of school kids from Ireland staying so the noise level was a bit higher than we really wanted, especially when trying to sleep.
Food was edible, not much choice and pretty uninspiring.
I can recommend the Italian in the Perelik, food was a reasonable price and quite tasty.
On the whole a great holiday with good snow, only downside was a broken wrist in our party.
With more snow forecasted it looks like the rest of the season will be a good one.
TC = we had Julian as our instructor the week before, he's a top bloke & his fiance is really nice. We ate in Boheme most days as well but we did that cos we know the owner, Nico from past years. Yeah the food may be a bit more but is certainly worth it, got to be the best on the mountain.
Glad to hear you had a great time as well.
Would you stay in Snejanka again, even with the kids etc cos thats where we might try next year.
Snezhanka is great with kids - perfect location - central to all bars and restaurants and buses to the slopes start right outside so guaranteed a seat. I have 3 kids and its been the best location for a ski holiday.
