Hi there, just a quick question. For a beginer snowboarder which would be the better resort? Pamporovo or Bansko? I've been to borovets and want to try somewhere else. Cheers, stu
hi
i think that pamps would be your best bet,as you have a few green runs/blues.bansko is set out for an intermediate boarder,so the brochures say.
they only have 3 or 4 blue runs ,the rest are reds .
but as i have never been before maybe someone else can give you more info.
steve
Once you can stand up and negotiate shallow slopes, Bansko has several long cruisey blues that are ideal for improving beginners. Granted there are one or two steep sections (of no great length) but if you're not falling over, you're not learning. John.
hi john
can you tell me how much the local beer is in bansko, and could you recommend one.also one of the lads is looking to buy a new snowboard and binding set up.did you notice how much they were out there ,and if we could get a good deal for him,he is an intermediate rider.
do they stock top brands like nitro,k2 and so on.
cheers
steve
The beer in Bankso varies in price where you drink. Zagorka was my fave tipple, bottled better than draught. The prices in Bansko on the whole are slightly, and I mean slightly higher, than those in Boro' from what I gather, but it's all so cheap as to make liitle difference. As a couple we spent about £230 in a week over crimble between us, eating out every night with beer/shorts/cocktails.
Didn't look to much at the equip out there as have own but most people reckon it wasn't expensive ...

When you going out? We enjoyed it so much we go back out (Bansko) on the 4th Mar. And to put it into context I've done Whistler several times. Not in the same league but the lifts are as good and there'll be some good terrain when they open the place up. As it is it's a pretty good ride for improving beginner/int. Cheers John.
thanks john
i'll look forward to a few beers.we are also going out there on the 4 march,we stay in the hotel orphey.
john what about the gondola, did you find any problems with that in the morning!i was told there could be quite a wait to get on it.due to the volume of skiers and boarders!
thanks for your help
steve
We're at the hotel Bisev, Steve. And yes the queues can be quite long at the gondola for an hour or more in a morning. There are few other quesues to worry about, that's if they bother to open the top lifts (compacts people lower on the mountain). I'm out there on my own as my missus doesn't ski/board so perhaps we may hook up, for a ride and a beer. If you like contact me on jmhancox@btinternet.com .....if not see you out there, John.
john
does that mean that we will be queing for an hour!
are you going totally on your own,or is your missus going ,but staying in the hotel.
steve.
if you want company on the slopes,i dont think that will be a problem,as long as you can put up with a a few welsh fools.
i have your e mail.
speak to you soon
