Panorama Canada

Been waiting for snowplough to do this post but it seems he is still to stiff from skiing to do it so here goes.
Flew with thomsons and seeing as how we are old gits and wanted extra legroom used their premium service which we found to be excellent.
stayed at the Pine inn which is a budget priced lodge and as long as you are not put off by the general decor of the place we found the rooms to be clean and tidy and well serviced.

The first ski lift was only 20 yards from our door and took you up to the first stage of the mountain where you can then catch the next lift if you want to go higher from which the whole mountain opens up. This is where you have to be carefull as the classification of the runs although well marked can vary greatly. The blue marked runs can encompass every variation you will find on Yastrabeets as they do not bash every run and a blue can contain some interesting mogul skiing.
Some blacks are bashed making them the equivalent of borovets reds and some are not making them very difficult. The piste bashing machines are some of the best I have seen and even with temperatures of minus 20 overnight always left the top layer of snow fluffy even first thing in the morning.
The locals said the snow conditions were the worst they had had in 20 years and icy but it is obvious they had never skiid borovets as we thought it was perfect. I think the moral here is if you learnt in boro you can tackle anything. Many times we were the only people on a particular piste and could do several runs without seeing another soul and because queues did not exhist you could start at any time of the day. In all the skiing was excellent but I think would be wasted on a pure beginner as they would not get much further than the green slopes which are few. This does not mean I consider myself to be any good.
The resort is quiet as far as night life is concerned as there are only about 5 or 6 restaurants and bars with prices about the same as the UK although they do organise some good party nights but we were mostly to tired from the amount of skiing we had done to go.
The outdoor hot srings are very popular in the evenings and an ideal way to relax those aching muscles. The service and the people were excellent and we found people could not do enough for you. Free guides are provided for all levels and will take you all over the mountain.
All in all a different world of skiing and I would think better than anything europe can offer but as I am not a purist as far as skiing goes while I will be going back I will still be going back to bulgaria next year as well. I still love it there as long as it does not continue to deteriorate. The one thing canada has taught me is that with a little effort on the slopes which do have snow bulgaria could be made so much better.
