Hi

We telephoned the Bulgarian embassy last week who informed us that it had to have a least 3 months remaaing after the return travel date.

Checked this information on the Bulgarian Embassy Web site under consular information see below copied text

Foreign citizens entering Bulgarian territory have to present a passport valid for at least three months beyond the holder's period of stay in Bulgaria.
