Piste Maps

One of the things that has frustrated me at Pamps is the lack of a decent piste map anywhere. When I have skiied in other parts of the world you always find small fold away piste maps that you can put in your pocket. Then when you are thinking about what runs to do you have a look and plan your route. I'm sure everyone is aware of them. Why don't they produce a decent one at Pamps? Do they at other BG resorts? Surely it wouldn't cost much to get the resort to print them off and they could carry advertising or vouchers etc for various establishments throughout the resort so would pay for themselves without too much hard work. As Pamporovo has more and more investment and is constantly trying to improve to western European standards this small thing could make a difference. Before I have had to rely on tiny bits of card with whisky ads on which are pretty useless. I know pamps is not that big and a lot of people know it like the back of their hand but if you are a new visitor it would be really useful. Maybe this year there is a decent one and I will discover it to my joy when i (hopefully ) get out there this year!

re: Piste Maps

I have never - in over 20 years of skiing in Pamporovo not been given a decent piste map as part of my arrival pack from my tour operator. They are also freely available all over the resort.

The one below took me all of 30 seconds to Google and download.

Hi Pete

Well i think that demonstrates the sort of inconsistency required to get the resort up to speed. I have not travelled there in a package so have not been given one by a rep. I have asked where I've bought my ski pass, hired skis and boots and got blank looks. I did get one from the Irish bar on the piste but it was tiny and useless as none of the pistes were named/numbered and only half were on it! I also got one from the Finlandia hotel but again was tiny and useless. Sure it's ...

I also got one from the Finlandia hotel but again was tiny and useless. Sure it's easy to Google one but that doesn't look up to date as doesn't have the new Stoikite runs on for starters. I also don't think you should have to print one off from home. They should give them to you when you buy a lift pass, like other European resorts - not look at you like you are mad for asking! Oh and I'm not Pamps bashing by the way, I'm a big fan and want the place to continue improving.
