Places to visit around Borovets

Hi all, We are here in Borovets at the moments, 1st Feb, and my husband is enjoying his snowboarding. First snow holiday. I on the other hand i love the sights and wondered if anyone can recommend anywhere we could go for sightseeing by taxi, so fairly local. Skidoo booked for later in the week and enjoyed the views at the top of the mountain but any other suggestions as where to visit and things to do would be appreciated. Cheers Booze

You could visit the town of Samokov, or maybe try the Rila Monastery, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rila_Monastery

I haven't been, but Plovdiv is apparently a pretty town to visit.

You can check out the old Kings Place in Borovez, it is on the road to the Yastrebez Hotel on the right side, near Olymp Hotel.
In Samokov you can visit the coppersmith or the museum, the mosque...rila monastery is great to visit but better an organised trip.
