around 2 hours 10 minutes, and they have the heating on full blast on the coach ! when you ask them to turn it down, they deny that it is even on ! ! ! ! either it is, or the coach is on fire then ? Don't bother visiting Plovdiv on the way back either - paying 13 quid for the priviledge. it is a complete hole of a place, full of pickpockets, that stinks of burning coal and traffic fumes. My throat has not been right since.
I did the Plovdiv tour purely as we had to check out of our hotel (Pamporovo) at midday but weren't being picked up by the transfer bus until 6pm. Plus it only cost us £6 for some reason.
I actually thought Plovdiv was pretty interesting, although admitedly not so picturesque. Our tour guide, Alex, was very informative and gave us a potted history of Bulgaria and his own experience of what it was like growing up there under a Communist regime.

It's a good way to break up the wait for your flight and you get to see a different side to Bulgaria than the tourist focussed resorts. This in turn gives you a new perspective on the country and it's inhabitants. Plus it has a half decent shopping street so handy for picking up last minute clothing/equipment bargains.
