Plovdiv airport was closed earlier today due to the dreadful weather conditions. Not yet re-opened but I'll check again tomorrow and update when I know. Lots of problems currently getting in and out of Pamporovo and the area has been declared as a code Red meaning only emergency travel should be attempted.
OK panic over - it has reopened.
The problem was a collaped roof.
The roof over the "Arrivals" terminal entrance of the airport had collapsed during the night because of snow that has accumulated on it.
There were no passengers at the terminal due to the late hour and nobody was injured. The airport was closed this morning but reopened later this afternoon.
yep - Ian I have transferred your accommodation now. You are no longer accommodated in Snezhanka. You will now have a plastic seat in the the arrivals hall at the airport for the week. I hope you and your merry band of roofers have a fab week there x
My wife, family and some friends arrived on Tuesday on the first flight into Plovdiv following the 'closure'. They all say that there was no sign of any roof collapse but the reason they were given for the closure was due to the heavy snowfall the previous evening and that the runways required clearing. They were initially diverted to Sofia and couldn't land there (same problem) so they were sent back to Plovdiv and had to circle a few times before the runway was finally cleared and they ...

Conditions in Chepelare are fantastic - wife says the best conditions she has ever had to ski (in 18 years).
