Plovdiv Airport in Summer

I'm also into mountain Biking (not too strenuous I might add)
Has anyone been to Pamporovo in Summer?

I contacted Plovdiv Airport and had a reply saying they are hoping to open the Airport for Summer Season in the furure and will have scheduled flights from Autumn 07.
Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Been talk of one of the budget airlines going during the summer for the last couple of years. Cannot see it being viable for them myself though, winter season yes but I do not think they would get the uptake of passangers. Plovdiv is not really a nice getaway for a weekend! We will have to wait and see.

Hi Alpine Angel, I have been to Pamporovo in the summer and it it beautiful. The only downside is that they are allowed to do building work at this time of year, but on the whole it makes a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of the seaside resorts. Most restaurants are open.

I saw a mini bus parked in Plovdiv airport last winter advetising moutain bike holidays not sure but it was something like Bulgarian bike holidays, they had an internet site but did not write it down - sorry

I'm going over 6th Jan for a week, so will try and get some info on the Biking Hols.
One of the Biking sites based near me in Newcastle are actually adding Bulgaria to their tours for 07.

one of my ski instructor friends mentioned he was doing biking hols in the summer so will ask him when I go at New Year if he knows any contacts... plus I think Balkan did do holidays to Pamps last summer, and I am sure you would be able to get a guide organised by the hotel to take you biking
