Plovdiv Airport

Hi folks, can anybody tell me whether there are any shops/eateries/duty free at Plovdiv Airport, the info that I've found so far is very vague so would be grateful if anybody who has travelled from Plovdiv could tell me what's available?
Thanks

re: Plovdiv Airport

No shops, no bars just a small snack bar selling coffee, chocolate and so on,

Yeah, proper basic! Make sure you eat the airplane meal (it loosly resembles something you can eat). Or take some supplies with you! Wink Very Happy

Plovdiv is a nightmare - keep your ski wear handy. We were delayed and it was absolutely freezing Take some food with you and drinks just in case. Good luck

Plovdiv airport was never built or designed to be a commercial airport. It is a former military base that has been converted to take commercial traffic to the ski resorts.

Flying into there means your transfer time to Pamporovo is just 90 minutes, whereas if you flew into Sofia you are looking at a 4 hour transfer.

However anything that can speed up the transfer times is fine by me. Although some have had delays recently, I have travelled via Plovdiv about 8 times now and I have only ever had minimal disruption that is possible at any airport in the world.

Very few trolleys for luggage, but busses are right outside the doors so only a short carry.

re: Plovdiv Airport

I'm not too fussed about the facilites as long as I know in advance to get some supplies in for the kids. I doubt that any airport could be as bad as Corfu which was an absolute nightmare!

We're transferring to Boro which according to our travel agent is a two and a half hour drive, we could have flown to Sofia but it would have meant a longer drive in the UK to get to Gatwick so it's better for us this way.

Thanks for the info, can't wait, my eldest son is counting the sleeps!! Razz
