I wanderd lonely through the crowd
with tired and aching feet
Ticketless and down at heart
when err I chanced to meet
a man with kindness in his eyes

so I thanked him there down on my knees and asked him
"but from where?"

He told me of the saddest tale
of how his wife and he
were season ticket holders
west stand block H row 3.

And since his wifes dear mother died
she hasn't felt the same
and she doesn't feel like going now
and I said "what a shame"

Then I said "Sir why pick on me don't the family want to go?"
He said "they did but the kick offs at 3, and the funerals 10 to 4."

I dreampt last night we'd won the Cup,
Beat Portsmouth after they went one up,
2 -1 the score when it was over
Full of joy in fields of clover
But wait, the winning goal was scored
With just 2 minutes on the board

He headed it in our bloody net!

I woke up sharp in a cold cold sweat,
Still seeing the ball lying in our net,
But then I realised that I'd be dreaming,
There was no need for my childish screaming

And all they're players were offside
Please rule it out - I cried and cried.

But still my dreams are much alive
I CAN'T WAIT for Sunday to arrive
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
