Power Cuts

Hi Everyone,

I just got back from Borovets this Sunday and thought I would warn everyone about the power cuts that kept occuring. They started about 7pm on the Tuesday night and left the whole resort in total darkness until the middle of the night. Then on Wednesday the power cut out for a few hours, leaving 350 people - me and my group of beginners included - stranded at the top of the mountain because all the lifts had stopped working.

It actually got to the stage where we were going to have to ski/walk down the mountain, then luckily the power came back just as we were starting to ski. It can't have been very nice being one of the people stuck in the lifts around the resort.

All in all the skiing was good and the resort is nice enough, until something goes wrong and then there is absolutely no organisation and they all run around like headless chickens but not actually doing anything. Anyone thinking of going out there make sure you take some candles!

Hope this helps.

re: Power Cuts

We had powercuts in Pamporovo last year - just got into the bath as the lights went out - luckily I had some snaplights in my soapbag left over from scout camp - the torch was in my bedroom.

Had a nice warm bath by blue glow light - and they last about 24 hours.

I would recommend anyone taking a couple of snaplights - they are not expensive, and if you don't use them, you can always bring them home and they are great at parties.
