Prespa

Hi all,

Any one stayed in the Prespa before - going in 2 weeks time and would love an idea of what to expect - stayed in Perelik last year.

What's the food like - there's a few vegetarians in the group.

re: Prespa

it's nice. rooms are a bit basic - some have baths and balconirs. food was very good, bars are great but were v smoky, not great if you're asthmatic or hate smoking. Generally really good though.

re: Prespa

Stayed at Prespa last year. Rooms basic, beds really comfortable. We had a room with a balcony & bath aswell as shower and the bathroom was really nice & clean, most rooms have been recently refurbished, would think they have finished now. Don't try to have a shower at busy times, the water goes cold, but so long as you know this before you get there you will have enough hot water. A lot quieter than Perelik, one fairly large bar area in reception, I loved the bar, very cosy. Food was ...

A lot quieter than Perelik, one fairly large bar area in reception, I loved the bar, very cosy. Food was actually ok, warm like everywhere else, but there is a microwave, can't remember about vegetarian food I wasn't veggie last year but didn't eat a lot of meat and seam to remember having enough choice. I know restaurants in town were ok for veggie choice as I didn't eat meat in them. The bar area wasn't smoky, because it's up the little hill people don't tend to go out of their way to go there. You can get out of the restaurant doors down the stairs into town, which is a bit quicker, but it is always locked late at night, so you have to go to the main entrance.
Anything else, just ask.

Thanks snow princess. i tried to get my hol rep to request balconies for a couple of us in the group but no help, but fingers crossed, we get into Plovdiv fairly early so I might be able to ask. Have any of you been to the Pizzeria down the road from there - it's so good - excellent pizzas for practically nothing. any advice on ski boot buying in Pamporovo??

re: Prespa

Didn't go to the pizzeria, but I love pizza a didn't have bad one in Pamps. Don't know about ski boots, we board and have bought our own stuff in ellis brigham sale in September. But if you have booked an instructor ask him/her. Our instructor took one of our group to buy his own boots. Or a lot of people say the snowshack guys are good.

re: Prespa

Thanks Snow princess.

Jon I've no idea on the name but if you are at the Alaska supermarket in the middle of the resort and have the Prespa in front and the Perelik behind you, walk own that road about 5 mins and you will see a place on the right that has Pizzeria written on it. Very yummy so worth the walk regardless of the weather. For lunch - the place at midstation is great. There was some kind of Bulgarian stew with an egg on top - don't remember the name but it's sooooooooo good on a very cold day.

Best part of skiing apart from skiing itself has got to be a hot chocolate with brandy though.

How will I cope for the next 2 weeks?????
