A project for the setting up of a ski center in the Razlog valley was deposited to Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev, Strouma daily reported.
Nearly 240 million euro will be invested in the Pirin Mountain resort over the coming three years. The project envisions the setting up of 58.8 km of ski tracks, 19.4 km of lifts as well as a golf course, horseback riding base, hotels and shops. The ski tracks will have the capacity to service 18 855 tourists per day.
The project also envisions the setting up of a 30-m cabin lift having capacity to service 3500 people per hour.
Razlog, Simitli and Kresna municipalities have given their full support for the execution of the project.
There at the moment exists a small area called Kulinoto - single drag and 1 km. piste. The investment means cutting deep into new virgin territory - couple of new ski tracks (pistes) in the national park Pirin. Erecting a new gondola and couple of other lifts upwards up the slope of "Dautov" Peak (2500 m). How the investors are going to settle the ecology issues? In my mind an almost impossible situation.
Its rubbish and just a repeat of a very old story - this was put to bed last year when the ministry of environment refused permission - Balkanstroy are now trying to sell off their land bank in the area.
