Question For Kris AKA Megalucca

Kris,
I read a thread on here about being diverted from Sofia to Bourgas, because of the airport being closed, do you know how often this happens?

I know how far it is from Bourgas to pamps, and would hate a 7 hour journey!!

pls don't talk about this... I don't want a 7hr journey either. Sad

Its gonna take me a good 12 hours door to door to get there on a good day and that should get me there about midnight.

Never heard about closed airport in Sofia. I landed even with 60 cm of snow and -15 degrees !!!
Some friends are coming this week end from France, no problem for them as well...

Maybe some charters are diverted but for different reasons (trafic, bookings...) but I can't tell you anything about this Confused

Anyway it will be a good opportunity to discover the wonderful Bulgarian landscapes !!!!

The airport in sofia was closed because their was to much fog in the air. got 7 hours delay

On Saturday 27th Dec the last flight to fly into either Sofia or Plovdiv was around 5pm EVERY flight after that was diverted to Bourgas the problem was Fog! - We went with Balkan holidays and sat on the runway at Bougas for 1 hour then had to wait for our coach for 3 hours then after sitting on the freezing cold coach for a further 7.5 hours arrived in Borovets!
The organisation by Balkan holidays was awful - at Bougas all other tour reps were there with coaches except Balkan!

The electronics at Sofia airport can't land a plane in the fog. The equipment is to old.
Modern airports have no trouble but Sofia is not a modern airport
