Euros....Not generally (except airports, reps, some hotels etc) but can be exchanged as per Sterling.
Food.... Eggy Salady Sausagy Hammy.......with the usual "Western" style offerings Chips Burgers Pizzas (the Pizzas on the whole are the best I've had outside of Italy)
Steaks etc. Carnivours can tempt themselves with Heart Tongue Liver etc.

The beer in Bansko in the modern bars was £1 pint, though half that in some mehanas. I prefer Zagorka but Kamenitza is ok too. Tuborg is roughly the same price too. If you mean Carling by British it's not. It originated in Canada and compares poorly to the above (in my opinion).
Yes there are many local fire-waters. Triple distilled Rakia goes over 90% but at that it will affect your vision............permanently if you drink enough.

Do yourself a favour, Col. If you drink the stronger stuff do what a lot of locals do and accompany it with a bottle of water. But go easy and preferably stick to the known brands which are all reasonably priced.
Baileys is available, but the Bulgarians do plenty of less lethal spirits, including a wide variety of Scnapps which is cheap - 2 levs a shot. Most bars will do happy 'hours' so you'll get doubles for 2 levs!
Baileys is available in virtually all "modern" bars. If you're going out to Bansko the snow was as good as any I'd boarded on in years (last week). The powder was too light!. The best bar in Bansko is "Amigo's". If you go in say hello to Vale and Georgi. Say John with the cowboy hat gives his regards.
P.S. if people tell you to try "Lion's pub", cough loudly and pass. At the moment it's a half built, tiny place with poor beer that fortunately frequently runs out.
