Quick tips for Borovets ski virgins

Take something to protect your face e.g. balaclava. It may sound stupid, but -28C tenderises your face!
Take a sense of humour to deal with general customer service, although many of the private restaurants were excellent.
Snow boots are cool for Bum Boarding and walking around the resort.
Ski-dooing is excellent, take some good gloves!
You can spend levs air side at Sofia airport. Duty free doesn't except it but the cafes will only take Euros or levs.

I agree with recommending to take a balaclava, i thought my face was going to freeze off at one point!!You can buy them out there for about 16 lev.

If your staying at the Rila take some filp flops if you want to use the pool. They don't let you in pool area without them. You can buy them for 10Lev out there.re: Quick tips for Borovets ski virgins

I sure did, but didn't take any of them up!!I don't think that i would of been capable!!

A beard is good, it was -28 when we were there, Mike my husband skied down from the top, when he got to the bottom his face was white - his beard had frozen - he tells me it was good protection. At least now I know what he'll look like when he's old.!!!!!!!re: Sofia duty Free
On the 10th Jan the Sofia duty free and duty free wine shop accepted my Lev's.They only show prices in Euro but allow you to pay in Lev.
