RTN Transfer from Bansko to Sofia

During our skiing holiday Lynda, my wife, is flyng off for a weekend in Barcelona leaving Sophia Airport 20. Jan 2012 16:25 and returning into Sopha on 22. Jan 2012 22:55.

She is a little concerned as it means me driving her with our 3 young kids during a period where there is snowfall predicted.

I was just wondering if there is a reasonable transfer service going Bansko - Sophia - Bansko. I have looked at the offer from advertisers on the left but they quote €150 euro which is a bit ...

I was just wondering if there is a reasonable transfer service going Bansko - Sophia - Bansko. I have looked at the offer from advertisers on the left but they quote €150 euro which is a bit rich for us.

Al help or poniters would be greatly received.

re: RTN Transfer from Bansko to Sofia

Thanks, I'll send them a message. I have found a company called banskoexpress.com they offer a return for £45 which is much more reasonable but they only show UK flights so I have just emailed them to see what they can do.

Thanks once again

150E is the norm, for a private transfer, 100 miles each way, in all weathers, and at all times of the day and night..
Bansko Express's offer of £45.00 for a return transfer will not be for a private transfer (as it costs 100lv in fuel), more likely a shuttle that will run when full, this is why they only meet the midday UK flights...

We will not continue in business for many more seasons as the economics of running transport here do not line up. The perception of most visitors that BG is third world, with third world prices is wrong, fuel now at 2.65lv a litre, insurance costs (if you insure correctly) have rocketed, servicing is more expensive than the UK (parts normally 3 or 4 times the price), and the roads are abusive adding to the costs. We can barely make a living once all the bills and taxes are paid, the opportunity to set aside money for replacement buses does not occur, so in time we will have no buses, and in that, no business.. We need to look at other opportunities.. Wink

re: RTN Transfer from Bansko to Sofia

The problem is its an US site, anything we order will be held in customs until we pay the tax... we order generally from the UK, anything within EU is tax exempt..
Example, Opal Movano starter motor complete with bendix, here in BG from Opal, around 550lv, from UK, new, £97.00 + delivery, complete service kit for Opal Movano, cam belt + tensioner, alternator belt, filters and 10 litres of oil, around 1600lv (extortionate..), kit from UK without oil, around £100.00, front headlamp assembly, ...

Bus is in again, engine management problem, fan runs continuously, and warning light on dash, would not start this morning (-21 degrees), already having new battery (230lv), diesel additive for cold weather (24lv), fuel system checked (??lv) with likelihood of having to visit main agent for diagnosis (????????lv) It really is not worth it, especially when confronted with guests who think we are charging to much.
I have discussed the situation with other companies and they are in agreement, admitting that the prices are to low, but some are unwilling to raise as they are afraid they will loose custom, not a good situation and one that cannot continue Mad

re: RTN Transfer from Bansko to Sofia

Hi Steve,

Personally I think that €150 for 700Km is a good price for a private transfer, I was hoping she would be able to get a shuttle and save some money but it appears that due to my wifes non-uk travel times there is nothing available.

If you have anything urgently that you need for your Movano let me know maybe I can source it here in Turkey where parts seem to be at least as cheap as UK. I am driving up to Bansko on Thursday so I'd get them to you faster than DHL ;-) ...
