Hi,

We are coming back to Borovets after our last trip at least 12 (if not more) years ago and I have a few recollections that may spark the memory of some of the more long standing contributors....

1 - Best instructor ever
We had a really really good instructor - the best ever.... He was an older chap who was an absolute health enthusiast. He only ate fruit and nuts, never any meat but was a strong as an ox. Really fantastic guy who brought my skiing on loads. We did skiing with boots open, eyes shut, one leg - all sorts! Wish I could remember his name...

2 - Remote mountain restaurant
We used to ski to a remote spot that was never busy. Our instructor used to take us there. Looking at the piste map and google earth I can see it and the route we used to take. If you go to the top of Markudijk 3 and ski away from the main area you go down a wide looping run. We would cut off piste here abount half way down over a kind of bowl, again diagonally away from the main area. We would keep going in that direction until we got to a small building that was a restaurant. I can see it on google earth - is it still a restaurant?

3 - Almost getting my crown jewels eaten!
I remember stopping at a restaurant one day that had a really big mountain dog, not a St. Bernard, but that type of thing. Anyway, being a silly youth, I sauntered up to the dog intending to say hello and it launched itself at me, bitting me right in my credentials. Luckily it was on a chain and the dog was yanked back and it only ripped my crotch but needless to say the entire clientele errupted into howls of laughter and I was reduced to a very, very embarrassed shadow of my former self for a while.

I can't remember exactly where the restaurant was but it was in the trees, probably around Yasterbetz 3. I'm sure the dog must be long since gone but I am not going to chance it with any more I may come across in March!

I'd love to know if anyone has any idea of what I am talking about...
