I am going to the Rila on the 13th march. I have read a lot about the Gondola being closed etc. When it is - How do you get skiing. Where in relation to the hotel is the gondola and other lifts as the one main reason I am looking forward to Borovetz is that we do not have to get a bus or taxi int the morning to the ski slopes as when in Pamporovo we did and on our last day there, everything completely stopped and we had to walk back with our kids to the Perelik. I love the idea ...

I love the idea of just going back into the hotel whenever we like and everyone can do as much or as little skiing as they wish. Also I believe less tied to time. Any info on the night skiing as well would be a great help as I plan to get up whenever it suits us and than the fact that we can ski until 10 pm is really appealing. Are there a lot of queues at the lifts - day and night. We are hoping to get a 'Suite' for the family in the Rila - Are they a good size. Appreciate any comments or tips. Thanking you in advance.

the rila is at the top of a small hill..which is usually covered in ice..you have to carefully walk down this to get to the gondola..takes no more than 6 mins..but if it's icy be careful.
if the gondola is shut (to mid-station is the usual situation)..you can still ski down some red runs and get by. The Rila is opposite another section of runs (bottom of which is shown on webcam..which is on Rila roof). This has a chair lift and was open all the time i was there..so don't worry if the top ...

gondola queues get bigger as the morning progresses..all other queues vary with certain conditions..if the top station is closed this obviously puts pressure on the lowewr slopes

THE QUEUES TO THE OTHER LIFTS DEPEND ON IF THE GONDALA IS RUNNING,IF IT IS THEN THE QUE WILL SHORT ON THE 4 MAN & DRAG LIFTS. WE HAD AN APARTMENT WITH 2 LARGE BEDS BUNK BEDS & A COT, & STILL HAD ROOM TO SWING A CAT.IF YOU ARE TAKING A SMALL CHILD BE WARNED THERE ARE NO HIGH CHAIRS ANY WHERE IN BOROVETS EVERYTHING IS WITH IN WLKING DISTANCE, & ALSO WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE OUR 7 YEAR OLD WITH US INTO OUR SKING LESSONS SO WE DIDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HER. ALSO 2 OF OUR PARTY WERE FIRST TIME SNOW ...

We stayed at the Rila last week in one of the suites. We have two girls 9 and 11. The room was fine and we were lucky enough to look out onto the slope, which was great fun as we could watch people stack it. You get a kettle in the suite which you don't get in the other rooms, good for that morning coffee.
We were all first time skier/boarders and the fact the gondola was only open to the mid station didn't really bother us as we had plently of other slopes to keep us occupied.
