Hi all HELP have I made a terrible mistake! am ski-ing for the first time with a friend and our 4 teenagers (who ski great) just before Easter. Whats Bulgaria/Borovets/Rila Studios really like please? will I wish we'd gone to lay on a beach somewhere or will I be totally hooked on skiing and snow? Must admit am looking forward to going up the mountain in the chairlift and swanning around in a ski suit a la posh. Any comments on this are would be v grateful to hear thanks. S

hi . . .borovets is a great place. . .never stayed in rila but gave heard good reviews . (check past posts on this board) not sure what the snow will be like late march though . .however I,m sure you will have a fantastic time. . .skiing is addictive. . .dont expect 4 star food in hotel but there are so many great places to eat in boro and the bars and night life is fantastic. . have a great hol. . .wish we were going back, been twice this year and got to wait till next year now

Hi going to stay at the Rila studios from the 10 - 17 March. I will let you know want it is like never been to bulgaria and have never been skiing before!! The snow looks great been looking at the web cam which 4 the last couple of days has not been working!!!re: Rila Borovets - your views please!
Hi, came back from borovets a week ago,stayed at the Rila, great hotel right infront of the nursery slopes, the only bar at the hotel is a little bit smokey. We had never been skiing before and had a fantastic time, definately hooked, would go back to the same resort and hotel. Ski lessons were well worth the price, the instructors were brill and looked after us. Have a great time. re: Rila Borovets - your views please!
hi we stayed at the rila in jan 07 and had the best hols ever...first time skiiing hols...and already booked to go again next year.....u will have a great time...xxre: Rila Borovets - your views please!
just got back from rila yesterday after a week and had a brilliant time !the food is very good, the rooms are good, maids are good, staff are pretty good (some can be moody but same as any place you go)
the rila is in the best position with shops inside and outside and right at bottom of slopes.
you will love it !

No need to worry you will love it.The Rila is not luxury but along with the rest of Borovets it has a certain charm and charisma.You will not beat the hotel for location which is right in the middle of the resort overlooking the slopes.I stayed in the Rila in January for the 2nd time found it excellent value for money.Dont be put off by other people whinging about the meals,they are fine and will always find something to suit.I just hope you have enough snow for skiing.I am sure you will ...

Hi! Got back from staying at the Rila Studios with friends yesterday and was pleasantly surprised! The hotel is clean and well located and the food was much better than we were expecting after reading reports on various websites. If you have fussy eaters there always seemed to be pizza or fish fingers and chips available. The good thing with the buffet system is that you can try as little or as much as you want! The only thing that I will say is that the Rila Studios are more like ...

The only thing that I will say is that the Rila Studios are more like "family rooms" than anything else with all 4 beds (2 bunks and 2 singles) being in the same room. Anyway, enjoy your trip - skiing is great, as much for the social side as anything else! If you don't enjoy your first time, stick at it - I did and now we go annually....and yes, my kids are better than me too!

Thanks for replies everyone - after reading them I am not so worried now and am actually starting to get a bit excited about our hols!!! just hope there is snow but I guess thats out of our hands.
