I made the mistake of reading trip-advisor
According to the reviews everyone's either a Gypsy/Prostitute or gangster and if it's not Nailed down in the Rila it will get stolen.
Assuming we are not Murdered on the first night or find a Horses head in my bed.
Where does everyone store their Valuables whilst at the Rila--I was hoping just to leave them in the room and hope for the best.

I was going take Cash/cards/phone with me on the slopes but the kids have DS's/ ipods + passports etc and i cant fit all that in.
Me and three mates stayed at the rila last year. No horses heads or gypsies...We got a saftey deposit box at the reception for our passports cards and cash. Everything else we left in the room. Phones, ipods and on some days i left cash on the dresser. We had no problems and didn't hear of any either. We did see one begger ouside the hotel but he held a cup in front of him and rubbed his stomach.....no AK47 or flick knife!!
Don't believe the scare stories....the "Mafia" blokes ...
Alright,
Me and three mates stayed at the rila last year.
Don't believe the scare stories....the "Mafia" blokes at the exit/entrance are actually security guards, who are there to look after guests. I spoke to one of them and asked if he had every had any trouble, he just laughed and said no.
I've got mates who have stayed at The Rila for the last five years and they have never had any problems.
The food isn't brilliant in the hotel....but its mega cheap eating out which is what we ended up doing most nights.
You should have no prob's. don't leave things in peoples faces in the room maybe an idea to take a lock for the cases and put any ipods etc in there and lock it up when you go out. Safety deposit box at reception as Nick said but i have never used any of that I just take cards with me and lock anything else up in a case.
