Hi Everyone
This site has been a godsend in putting my mind at rest. My wife and I are coming out on 20th Feb and it will be our 1st time in Bulgaria (have done Italy 3 times and France once).
It seems from the comments on the other posts that I have read that we will have a good time (snow permitting).
Thanks Kas (and your other half of course) for your daily updates, I've been glued to them each evening (even though I should be doing some paperwork!!).
Can anyone give us an insight into the Rila Hotel in general and as the wife can't start the day without coffee but doesn't like the strong coffee served on the continent, are there kettles in the hotel rooms, and if not, will our own travel kettle be ok to use? (sorry to the kettle hiring guys for not giving you a sale - see other post)
Finally, it seems that the "Titanic" is a popular watering hole and meeting place. Where is it and how will I get there?
Titanic. out off the foyer, turn left, something like third watering hole on your right. Don't woory you cant miss it.
The misses will be ok at the Rila no probs, stayed there at least 5 times. Down grading at the moment saving money to get upgraded seats for Canada Feb 24th.
We came back from the Rila 1 week ago. There is a coffee machine at the breakfast bar you need to hit the button twice to get a full cup. You could take your own coffee and use there hot water or like others take a kettle + adapter.
We found the Titanic great but also Mama Mia opposite Rila did an A Maze Ing steak 35 lev for beer, shot, steak, chips and onion rings, great guys too.
Also the black Tiger (Kareoke bar) opposite Rila good fun to people watch or have a go!! So many bars ...

Also the black Tiger (Kareoke bar) opposite Rila good fun to people watch or have a go!! So many bars best thing is to try them all most will give you a free shot if you ask.
Good things to do to mingle are the bar crawl and go and have a try of Grand ma's traditional evening.
Loads to do in the Rila, pool, Jacuzzi, Casino for a dabble. I had 2 50 minute massages which were just out of this world (the non-sexual type). Dont forget to try the locals Hot Chocolate.
If you would like any more info message me back and I will give you my mobile number.
Going out Sat 20th Feb.
Wife can get down most slopes (eventually) but is still very low in the confidence department. I'm happy to throw myself down most runs. Booked into ski lessons as she felt totally out of place in France last year (booked private challet from work mate) as there was very little interaction with the locals and not many Brits to converse with either.
How is the ski school, and what level are the "improver" lessons aimed at?
Will have no trouble finding the Titanic ...

Will have no trouble finding the Titanic now, thanks Snow Plough.
I'd only just read one post and was replying when two others came in whilst I was typing (must try more than one finger in future - for typing that is!!)
Thanks for your updates Spice and Ed, wife loves hot chocolate so it looks like there could be a run on the stock market.
I'll take my wolly trunks if the poo's cold just in case.
The instructors are pretty good They will get you to do a quick run down the nursery slope infront of the Rila then group you up. If they think you need to shift up or down after the first day they will rectify it the next morning.
Yes pool cold. they speak excellant english and there are plenty of us about usually.
Ask at reception for a room over-looking the slopes as the views beat any other in the hotel.
They will give plenty of towls in the room and for the pool.
