Roads to Pamporovo

Hi All,
Out tomorrow afternoon can anyone update on the roads from Sofia to Pamps and current drive time?

Read earlier that all vehicles that need to access mountain roads have to have snowchains fitted....

when you get further up the mountain chains become compulsory for all. this is the case even if you have snow tyres fitted.

wow....been to pamps for the last seven years and never needed chains or been told (police) to use them.Ringing hire company to book chains!!!!!Thanks chaps...Sonia

The Bulgarians are doing a fab job of keeping the roads open, they are clearer than they have been for several years !

So far we have not been stopped driving to and from, or in and around Pamps to put on snow chains, although I would advise that you carry them. Even with the huge dump in Jan, the military and police out and about - we didnt get stopped for not using chains. We do have snow tyres....

We have never needed chains before either but have booked them this time just in case.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but snow and chains excite me. hic.
