After 6 consecutive years of going to Bulgaria snowboarding (boo hiss I hear you cry!), I'm thinking of trying somewhere else for a change (or maybe having two hols??). I was thinking of maybe Romania, Slovakia or Slovenia. Anyone been before?
I ve not been but know a few people who have and didnt get very good report from them (Romania that is) very limted ski area was the main complaint, other was limited snow but then that happens
went to Romania last year, hard to give a accurate opinion, snow was poor and only one ski slope open. food, beer and local people very similar to Bulgaria. i would try again and hope for better conditions.the ski night life wasnt as busy as Bulgaria that why most hotels are all inclusive, it is easy to get a bus into the capital Bucharest which was a good lively and freindly city.Ski instructors excellent.i hope this report is some help to you.
Went to Romania, Slovenia and Bansko earlier this year.
Romania we didn't enjoy (Poiana Brasov). The skiing was very limited, despite being lucky with a dump of snow just before we got there. The locals weren't as friendly as expected (openly hostile in some places). The prices were a lot higher than expected, and the nightlife wasn't up to much.
Slovenia (Kransjka Gora) was the polar opposite. The people friendly, good nightlife (cheap as well), well groomed slopes, but to be honest not ...

Bansko of course we adore, so we knew what we were getting.
In my personal opinion:
Romania, nope, never go there again.
Slovenia, would happily visit again, but not over BG
I should point out once again, that this is my personal opinion, some of the folks we met loved Romania. They were happy to stay in the hotel all the time though.
I think in some cases if you realy want to go try it if you dont like it dont go back, what suits one person dosnt suit the next, personally I hate benidorm but meet loads of people that go there year on year why? ( I have an idea!!!) but its not for me.
if you do give it a try let us know what you think.
