SNOWBOARD MANUFACTURE

I'm new to snowboarding and I'm travelling to Borovets on the 21st of Jan to learn.

At the engineering company I work for I've started to make a sowboard afer trawling the web for information. I' starting to get information about hole patterns for the bindings. I'll use the 4x4 pattern, but can't find the dimensions between the holes. I was wondering if anybody could help me.

Also, the dimension along the length of the board bettween the 2 pairs of holes.

If you could help! Cheers, Stuart

re: SNOWBOARD MANUFACTURE

Stu,

All boards differ in length and width. All boards also have numurous holes to aid in binding setup- for example for powder riding most tend to set their bindings closer to the rear of the board. As for dimensions across the board, all snowboard bindings have the ability for adjustment.. to insure the boot when sittin gin the binding is located to allow a central stance across the board for the rider.I would do more research if I was you, or go into your local shop and look at some ...

I must say though... your a brave man trying to make your own board...good for you for trying though as I woudn't. If you are really set on making one please ask away.. I will answer what I can, as an engineer and a boarder. Good luck! Razz

re: SNOWBOARD MANUFACTURE

The dimensions of the hole patterns are standard, either 4, 3 or 2, Then they are either centralised on a twin tip board or set slightly back on a directional board, you always get a few different hole patterns to select, depending on stance width, personal preference etc.

I'll just go and measure the distances on my binding base plates....brb

What construction method you using? wood laminates, Carbon, nomex, fibreglass?

If you manage to build one i'll be happy to be a test pilot Cool

re: SNOWBOARD MANUFACTURE

Hi there, thanks for the information.

I'm using 6mm plywood. I've cut the shape and bent each end up with a nice smooth radius. I heated the board with my girl friends iron and kettle and eased the ends round witha series of g clamps. Sounds daft but it worked and has held its shape.

I'm going to sandwich a plate with m6 inserts between 2 bits of 6mm ply and then fibre glass around.

Dont supose you know what size the threads are on your board? m6 or m5?

when are you out in Borovets?

Cheers, Stu
