The bloody Thursday in London is an abhorring happening. The question arises, though, whether the terrorist are aiming at just inciting horror? Global terrorism wants to take as a hostage the entire human civilization. I think it would be naive, to say the least, to talk about a crusade or a war against terrorism.
A war would rather trigger off more terror attacks ...

A war would rather trigger off more terror attacks and make them legitimate. The ancient civilizations were well aware of it. Phobos and Deimos (Fear and Horror) are the children and guards of Mars, the God of War. Phobos was the son of Aphrodite, while Deimos was a chariot driver of Mars.
The Christian imperative of non-resistance is only recommended nowadays after one has been taken hostage.
It seems to me that the strongest adversary of terror is Justice, which implies the deserved punishment.

You will never beat terrorists. That is why it is used.
On numerous occasions we (as in Britain) have used terrorism, as it is cheap and highly effective.
Without opening up cans of worms look at what we did to Dresden and (albeit US led) in Japan WW2.
Im not a sympathsiser by any means. Anyone taking out innocent, unaware civilians is evil and should be hung. However before we take the moral high ground, how many innocent civilians have british bombs killed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia ...

The problem with the uk (and the us) is that they/we think their/our back yard is the world. They dont see the 'bigger picture' of what goes on in the world.
The old saying of 'there are two sides to every story' is too true.
In our eyes, these people are terrorists and we are the freedom fighters. In their eyes, they are the freedom fighters and we are the terrorists.
Unfortunately that is a problem that will never be solved.
