"Bulgaria Air" Aces Fired
The management of "Bulgaria Air" fired their best 15 pilots. The official motive was downsizing. Thirteen of them are commanders, the other 2 - second pilots. Some 10 days ago the Civil Aviation Pilots Union demanded a rise of pilots' salaries from 1,900 BGN up to about 2,300 euro. But the management of the company turned down the demand. "We are not going to suspend the flights regardless of the dismissals", chair Todor Penev assured. The dismissals of the pilots is within the competence of the board of directors of "Bulgaria Air", and that's why I cannot comment on it, Minister of Transport Nikolay Vassilev stated.
Please note that this should only effect you if you are flying to Sofia on a scheduled flight. If you are on a Balkan Holidays charter flight, on its own airline BH Air, then you do not use Bulgaria Air.
