Samokov or Rila .....

Wanting to book for next year but torn between these two hotels. We have stayed in the Samokov but friends are recommending the Rila, what does everyone think?

Hi Sam & Maz,

We stayed in the Samakov and quite liked it. People i spoke to about the Rila said its very expensive in the bar and the food was REALLY crap!!
I think when we go again we'd be quite happy at the Samokov

I prefer the Rila - food is marginally better, especially breakfast.

I like the location and pool of Rila. You don't have to buy in the lobby bar to sit there.

Felt the Samokov was more like a museum type atmosphere.

Try the Lion although its hasn't got the luxury of being right in the centre it's first class with a free shuttle bus to town between 8.30-18.00.
A friend of ours works for a travel agency and recently went on a work trip to Bulgaria with Balkan Holidays. Having visited all the hotels she said she would recommend the Lion or Flora.

Not much between them having stayed at both.I think i prefer the Rila as its nearer the slopes and the pool is better but its a close call

I stayed in the rila,location was excellent the food was quite nice but the bar was a rip off.As said you dont have to drink their.

We bought drinks from the supermarket and drunk them in the bar,we got a few dirty looks but hey if they wanna try and have you over then they only have themselves to blame.
