Season Pass for Bansko or Borovets

Right, here goes... 2nd time lucky Very Happy

Sorry about the dodgy post - i'm new to the forum.

Anyway, I recently moved to Bulgaria and I am about one and a half hours drive from both Bansko and Borovets. I wondered if anyone on the forum knows the aproximate cost of a season pass for either resorts. My intention is to go boarding whenever I can through the season - work permitting, of course!

I am in the process of obtaining a Lichna Karta (resident's permit), but I am unsure whether I will be able to take advantage of the infamous 'dual pricing' before the season kicks off. If anyone knows the cost of a pass for both foreigners and BG residents that will be great.

Also, I know it's cheeky, but does anyone know if it is possible to get a BG resident to purchase a ski pass on your behalf at the cheaper rate?? Wink

My Bulgarian language skills are pretty limited at the mo, so finding this info by other means has proved really difficult.

Cheers Snow Buddies!! Very Happy Razz

re: Season Pass for Bansko or Borovets

Last year in Pamporovo there were spot checks on cards and some people (british embassy staff) ended up pretty embarrased. They will take the pass away. Last year in Pamporovo a season pass was just shy of 800 levs. Still got to wait 1 hour in the queues. Do the maths.

re: Season Pass for Bansko or Borovets

Thanks for the info Steve. We are in Bulgaria after all, and in my experience so far I would expect even the embassy staff to be looking at various 'workarounds'

I take it the price you quote (around £270.00) is for a BG resident. Would you happen to know the approximate price for a foreigner?

Also, I hear that - due to EU accession requirements - dual pricing is supposed to be outlawed at the end of the year. In your opinion do you think that the price for a ski pass (not just season ...

In your opinion do you think that the price for a ski pass (not just season passes) will rise to the foreigners rate, drop to the BG residents rate, or perhaps, meet somewhere in the middle.

Cheers...

Dual pricing is illegal, with a recent act of the Bulgarian parliament.
However, smoking in public places is also illegal, and you will not see much evidence of this.
Having a law is one thing, enforcing it it is clearly another!!!

re: Season Pass for Bansko or Borovets

As bansko boy says, having the law and enforcing it are completely different things. I wouldn't like to guess what the price changes will be. The season lift card price was for BG. Not sure they even had a price for foreigners.
If the lift pass is for weekend use I would think about it a while, it may not be worth it. If the snow comes late or finishes early, you lose. The pass is with a photo so isnot transferable. Also, at weekends the resorts are very busy. I would advise waiting till ...

Hi

Last year in bansko you could only buy a season pass if you were bulgarian or had a litchna carte, which you needed to carry at all times as they did check

no idea whats happening this year all sorts of rumours going round have heard prices will be announced 1st dec
