Has anyone been to the Secret Hotel in the woods at Chalin Valog ? I have glimpsed and heard it whilst on the short ski lift up to mid station. We have generally had lunch at the restaurant slightly lower down ,in the woods, marked with a picnic sign Pereshnitse or similar name ? Hi fellow snow lovers,
Has anyone been to the Secret Hotel in the woods at Chalin Valog ? I have glimpsed and heard it whilst on the short ski lift up to mid station. We have generally had lunch at the restaurant slightly lower down ,in the woods, marked with a picnic sign Pereshnitse or similar name ? Anyway, whilst this is great and hosted by a chap called Stevie G (spooky), I checked out the Secret Hotel on line and it looks fun. I am assuming that you cut through the trees at the top of Chalin Valog as cannot see a ski route through.
If anyone know of other hidden gems let me know. The hotel up the road behind Blah Blahs is worth a look too.
Out on Sunday, should be new snow fall, Chelsea 8 points clear and through to the milk cup final by Wednesday !
Yes secret hotel is Chalin Valog. There is a road there that goes under the piste. You can follow that up oryou can cut across to it right at the top of the drag lift. On the right if you are skiing down, about 200 metres from there. Toffana is worth a look as well, that is on your right at the bottom of chalin valog. There is a new bar on the left, maybe 300 metres below peshterite. And the other one is at shilligarnik. Go behind blah blah you will see a road, follow it up 100 yards and ...

What's in a name Trevor? I think this season our cups will runneth over ....
Thanks Dave We'll give them all a go and report to the board. I hear that Ulen have increased prices from last year although a cold beer on the upper slopes for under £3 is still not to be sniffed at !
But the other bars are more like one pound a beer. Ullen pay the workers peanuts and cannot really justify their prices. How can Bulgarians afford it ?
I guess they feel that they have a captive audience with Europeans who are used to paying £4/5 in the Alps. Much rather support the private hotels/bars !
I also prefer the back street mehanas in the evenings as you usually get a vary warm welcome along with good food and good value.
